Alice G. Webb

New Braintree - Alice G. (Waugh) Webb died on Monday, June 13, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, following a short illness.

She was born in Prescott, Mass., daughter of the late George T. and Rosa M. Waugh and lived most of her life in New Braintree.  Mrs. Webb was predeceased by her husband W. Kenneth Webb in 1956.

She leaves her family:  daughter Edith R. Ramaska and son-in-law Robert J. Ramaska of Oakham; daughter Judith C. Webb and son-in-law Joseph A. Chenevert of New Braintree; grandson Andrew J. Chenevert of Portland, Oregon; sister-in-law Jean Waugh of New Braintree and many close nieces and nephews.  She also leaves a large extended family and her friends.  She was predeceased by three brothers:  Arthur G. Waugh, Clifton M. (“Kip”) Waugh and Philip W. Waugh.

Alice was employed in office work in Springfield and Boston and later as a bookkeeper for local companies.  Mrs. Webb then served as Director of the New Braintree Public Library for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2015.  She served on the Board of Library Trustees for twenty-seven years and as Assistant Library Director for several years prior to her appointment as Director.  Mrs. Webb was dedicated to supporting her town and served on the Board of Registrars of Voters and the Council on Aging.  She was an avid reader.

Alice had unfettered love for her family and her country.

Alice’s daughters wish to thank Elizabeth Weeks for her unwavering support and assisting Alice with her medical care.

Burial was held privately at her request in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Braintree beside her husband.  Memorial donations may be made to the Alice Webb Fund, New Braintree Public Library, 45 Memorial Dr., New Braintree, MA  01531.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
