North Brookfield - Ann L. (Varney) Nealer, 88, of Bradshaw St., died Thursday, January 26, 2017 at her home.

She leaves her daughters, Jean Contino and her husband Will and Carol Nealer both of North Brookfield and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Reedy, and by her brother Donald.  She was born in North Brookfield, daughter of the late Carroll F. and Alice W. (Rollins) Varney and was a lifelong resident.  She was a graduate of North Brookfield High School and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.

Mrs. Nealer began her career as a secretary at Wyman Gordon Company and later worked for many years in the Principals Office at the North Brookfield High School.  She began at FLEXcon as the personal secretary to co-founder Mark Ungerer and retired in 1993 as a buyer in their purchasing department.

Ann and Reedy camped together for 52 years.  They were charter members of NAFCA’s Bay Path Chapter 114.  She enjoyed trips to Cape Cod and rides in Reedy’s 1929 Model A Tudor with the Worcester County Model A Club.  Together they took cruises throughout the Caribbean. They traveled from Canada, the length of the east coast, all the way to Key West, Florida, and through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Ocean.

She was an active member of the North Brookfield Senior Center, where she served as a member of the Council on Aging.

A Funeral Mass for Ann will be held on Monday, January 30, 2017 at 11:00AM in St. Joseph’s Church in North Brookfield.  There are no calling hours, and everyone is asked to go directly to the church.  Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in the spring.
