Anne E. (Nikodem) Roach
August 5, 1933 ~ May 30, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years OldWare – Anne E. Roach passed away May 30th, 2017 at Baystate Wing Memorial Hospital. Born August 5th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Helen (Stachowicz) Nikodem Mathews of Ware. Mrs. Roach was a lifelong resident of Ware, and a graduate of Ware High School where she played on the women’s basketball team. Mrs. Roach was active in community theater and area minstrel shows, as well as singing for weddings and funerals and was a communicant at All Saints Church. Mrs. Roach began her professional life working at the phone company and went on to hold several roles during her career, including Director of Volunteers, and Director of Fundraising at Mary Lane Hospital, Human Resources Specialist at Providence Hospital in Holyoke, and worked for the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Roach was also a member of the Ware Bicentennial Committee, and for a time was a photographer for the Ware River News.
Mrs. Roach is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, and long-time Ware Town Treasurer, Clerk, and Tax Collector, James M. Roach in 2013. She is survived by her daughter Erin and son-in law Rudy Allende of Enfield, Connecticut, and her son Michael Roach of Ware.
Calling hours will be will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street in Ware, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at All Saints Church, North Street in Ware. Interment will follow in New St. William Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
