Christine V. Bennett, 92

North Brookfield - Christine (Varney) Bennett, 92, of Bigelow St., died on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at her home.

She leaves her two sons, Harry R. Bennett and Jeffrey F. Bennett and his wife Paula of North Brookfield and three grandchildren, Lucas, Lyndsey and Lauren.  She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Harry S. Bennett and a brother Robert Varney. She was born and grew up in East Brookfield, daughter of the late Raymond L. and Claire L. (Holden) Varney before moving to North Brookfield 60 years ago.  She was a graduate of Howard Seminary in West Bridgewater.

Mrs. Bennett along with her husband owned and operated the Barred Rock’s Poultry Farm and the Botina Dairy Farm in North Brookfield.  She was the founder of the Grove Street Elementary School library in North Brookfield, later retiring as the librarian from the North Brookfield Elementary School.

She was a member of the Massachusetts State Farm Bureau, the Worcester County Farm Bureau and the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 41, and was a former member for the North Brookfield School Committee and the North Brookfield Library Board of Trustees.

Funeral Services for Christine will be held privately.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the North Brookfield Elementary School Library Gift Account, North Brookfield Elementary School, 10 New School Dr., North Brookfield, MA 01535.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
