Russell E. Ewings, 69

West Brookfield – Russell E. Ewings of East Main Street, died on Monday, June 20, 2016 at UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester.

He leaves his devoted and caring wife of 38 years, Sandra J. (Humphrey) Ewings; one nephew, Ronald W. Turgeon and his wife Kathie, and their children, Rachelle and Kara of Sonora, CA; a cousin, Janice Damato Oliver and her husband Jim, and Jan’s children, David, Billy, and Kelley;  as well as his sister-in-law, Eleana Barton of Oxford, and her son Michael and his wife Darcy.  He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Ewings.  Russell was born in Worcester, son of the late Ellsworth and Margarette (Sampson) Ewings.  He and Sandra lived in Brookfield for 11 years, prior to moving to West Brookfield, 18 years ago. 

Mr. Ewings was a Materials Manager for FLEXcon Corporation for 35 years before retiring in 2014.  He enjoyed the outdoors – nature, the ocean, and especially working outside on his yard.   He was also an avid NASCAR fan. 

Russell was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. 

A Committal Service with full Military Honors will be held Friday, June 24, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., in Winchendon.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting his family with arrangements.
