Sturbridge/Twin Mountain, NH - Anna Francis (McKenna) Paquette, 95, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2017 after suffering a stroke.

Anna was born in Whitefield, New Hampshire on June 20, 1922, to Philip Francis McKenna and Ellen Mary (Whalen) McKenna.  She grew up in Twin Mountain, NH where her parents owned the Rosebrook Inn.

She leaves her children and their spouses, Mary Ann Adams of Sturbridge, MA, Michael Paquette of Bethlehem, NH, Susan Berry of East Concord, VT and Laurie Sanborn of Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.  She loved and was so proud of her grandchildren, Seth and Jared Adams; Melinda, Heather and George Berry; and Hunter and Karly Sanborn.  Her great grandchildren Jack and Zoey put a twinkle in her eye when they came to visit.  She was the last to pass on of her four siblings, Margaret (McKenna) Coleman, Eileen (McKenna) Worsley, and Phillis (McKenna) Loeffler.

Anna was a nurse by profession, graduating from Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.  During her nursing career, she worked at the Veterans’ Hospital in White River Junction, Vermont; Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Jaffrey, New Hampshire; and Beech Hill Hospital in Dublin, New Hampshire.

She was a pilot who loved to fly, and became a licensed airman around 1949, and later obtained her “private pilot” license.  Her favorite plane to fly was a Piper Cub.  She was an avid golfer, enjoyed skiing and even at her tallest of 4’ 11”, played basketball in high school and college, bragging that she scored 32 points in one game.

She was well loved and will be missed.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the family’s request.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Donation Processing Center, 7 Mill Brook Rd., Wilton, NH 03086.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
