Claire R. (Gouley) Mitus

Ware – Claire R. Mitus, 99, of Sunny Hill Drive, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She leaves her daughter, Elaine M. Seveney of Ware; her son, Francis Mitus and his wife Barbara of East Longmeadow; eight grandchildren, Robert Mitus and his wife Mishel of East Longmeadow,  Rebecca Hebert and her husband Mark of Ware, Amy Wnek and her husband Daniel of Holden, Christopher Seveney and his wife Diana of Annandale, Virginia, Justin Seveney of South Carolina, Shane Seveney of Ware, Raechel Seveney of Tennessee and Jayson Seveney of Ware; thirteen great-grandchildren, Megan, Joseph, and Lucy Herbert, Matthew, Isabella, Olivia Wnek, Lily Mitus, Richard and Yasmina Seveney, Sapphyre Boone, Tiari Seveney, Xzavier, and Atticus Boone, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Joseph S. Mitus in 1988, and her brothers, Raymond Gouley and Robert Gouley.  She was born in Ware, daughter of the late Frank and Anna (LaFlamme) Gouley and was a life-long resident of Ware. 

Nana, as she was known by all, loved to crochet and made blankets for all of her grandchildren.  In her younger days she loved to travel to Florida, Mackinac Island in Michigan, Bermuda, and still talked about her cruise to Alaska.

Claire was a long-time member of All Saint’s Church in Ware, and was very devoted to the church.  She credits her long, well fulfilled life and many blessings to God.  She loved her large, extended family. 

A Funeral Mass for Claire will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00AM in All Saint’s Church, 17 North St., in Ware.  A calling hour will be held in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware from 9:30 to 10:30AM prior to the mass.  Burial will be in New Saint William Cemetery following the mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Seveney Scholarship, 5 Sunny Hill Drive, Ware MA 01082 or www.seveneyscholarship.com
