David J. Zaganiacz

New Braintree – David J. “Dave” Zaganiacz, 61, of New Braintree entered eternal life on October 23, 2018 with his family by his side.

David sadly leaves behind his sister, Mary Ann Z. Swistak and her fiancé Mark Valego of Hardwick, his niece Blair K. Robidoux and her husband Andrew of Warren, his great niece Morgan Stelmokas of Barre, as well as many cousins.  He was predeceased by his best friend and brother-in-law Michael J. Swistak in 2010.  Dave was also tragically predeceased by his beloved niece Randi Lee Swistak-Stelmokas in 2005.  David was born in Webster, son of the late Teofil F. and Theresa (Mozdzierz) Zaganiacz of Gilbertville.

It is with heavy hearts that Dave will miss the birth of his great nephew in December.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing.

He started his career at the Department of Conservation & Recreation – Quabbin/Ware River Region in 1985, as a Laborer, performing the duties of grounds crew maintenance during the winter months, and Boat Launch Area Attendant at Area 3 in Harwick during the summer.  Through promotions he worked his way through the ranks of Ranger I, II and III.  In April of 2016, after 30 years with DCR, Dave retired as a Captain of the Ranger Program, where he was highly regarded and respected by his peers and the public for his dedication and familiarity of the Quabbin Reservoir and its vast land.

Dave will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 from 5 to 7PM in Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware.  A Graveside Service for David will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00AM in Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 62-210 Upper Church St., in Gilbertville.  Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery.
