Lawrence H. "Larry" Soucie, 83, of North Brookfield, died on Tuesday evening, September 11, 2018, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer. He was married just shy of 63 years, a father of six, grandfather of seven, and a great-grandfather of three. He lived a good and full life. Larry loved a good crossword puzzle, the Red Sox, the Patriots, and a subtle joke.
He leaves his wife, Janet M. (Erali) Soucie; three daughters, Karen Norkaitis and her husband Robert, Diane Murphy, and Brenda Powers and her husband James; three sons, Lawrence Soucie and his wife Donna, Thomas Soucie, and Timothy Soucie; his mother Wanita, who is 105; his sister Carol Watelet, and his brothers Donald and Douglas Soucie. He also leaves his grandchildren, Natalie Pelletier, Katie Norkaitis, Anthony Powers, Marie Powers, Peter Murphy, Shannon Soucie, and Jeremy Colebrook-Soucie; his three great-grandchildren, Dakarei Powers, Cora Pelletier, and Evelyn Pelletier, and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Gardner, son of the late Richard Soucie.
Larry grew up in Athol. He graduated from Athol High School, and was a member of the Army National Guard. He completed the apprentice training program at the Union Twist Drill Company. He subsequently worked on the Apollo space program while employed as a machinist at Brookfield Machine Company, and later at Athbro Precision Engineering. He was a former HAM radio operator.
Larry was well loved, and will be deeply missed by his family. At his request, his services will be held privately, and there are no calling hours.
