Louise D. (Dumas) Jankins
December 14, 1937 ~ December 28, 2017 (age 80) 80 Years OldLouise D. (Dumas) Jankins, 80, of West Brookfield, died on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Southbridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, William H. Jankins; three sons, Steven W. Jankins of Hampton, NH, Michael W. Jankins and his wife Maureen of West Brookfield, and Brian C. Jankins and his wife Amy of Sutton; nine grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Cody, Olivia, Thomas, Shelby, Aby, Luke and Hannah, and several nieces and nephews. She was born in Pittsfield, daughter of the late Oliver and Corrine (Beaudreau) Dumas, and has lived in West Brookfield for over 50 years.
Louise loved being a homemaker for Bill and her boys. She also worked as an Executive Secretary at United Techologies, at the former ITAC in North Brookfield, and in the office at Sherman Oil, before retiring in 2001. She was a collector of antiques, and had her own shop in the barn of her home, Issac Giddings Barn. She was an accomplished artist herself, and a weaver of Nantucket baskets. She was devoted to volunteerism in her town and had a passion for local historic preservation of both landmarks and land. She was a member of the Common Committee, the Bandstand Committee, Rice Memorial Fountain Restoration Committee, and the Town Hall Restoration Committee.
Despite being so involved with home, work, and volunteering, she always made the time to attend over 1000 of the youth sports games of her children and grandchildren, being their greatest fan!
Louise’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Summit Elder Care and the Southbridge Rehabilitation and Health Care Center for the devoted care that they provided.
