Marilyn J. (Burns) Valerius

West Brookfield - Marilyn J. (Burns) Valerius, 84, of West Main St., died Thursday, February 16, 2017 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

She leaves four daughters, Linda Volpe and her husband Rocco of Clifton, NJ, Katherine Schneider and her husband Edward of Vernon, NJ, Karen Andersen and her husband Paul of West Warren and Donna Green and her husband John of Wellington, FL; two brothers, Michael Burns and his wife Emma of Arizona and Jeffrey Burns of New Jersey; one sister, Margaret Carey and her husband Rev. Dr. Peter Carey; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, George D. Valerius, two sons, George R. Valerius and David Valerius and a brother Paul Burns.  She was born in Scranton, PA daughter of the late Michael and Ellen (Warmen) Burns and grew up in New Jersey and lived in Passaic before moving to West Brookfield in 1980.

Marilyn was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Dunkin Donuts Divas and Dudes in West Brookfield.

A Funeral Service for Marilyn will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church in West Brookfield.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sharing Cupboard Food Pantry - First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 371, West Brookfield, MA 01585, the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Floor 1, Framingham, MA 01701, or to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St. New York, NY 10016.  Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
