Michael C. Swistak, 56

West Brookfield – Michael C. Swistak, 56, of Pleasant Street, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.

He leaves his daughter, Toriellen Swistak of West Brookfield; two stepsons, Nicholas Roth and his wife Kristine of Somers, CT, and Alexander Roth of Portland, ME; his mother, Sybil (Bombardier) Swistak of West Warren; one brother, Steven Swistak and his wife Kathy of Warren; two sisters, Rosemary Bubien of Pelham, AL and Patricia Swistak of West Warren; one granddaughter, Nora Roth; his nephews, Peter and Mark Swistak, niece, Kim Swistak Carr, and their spouses and children; his former wife, Eileen Claffey; as well as his best friends, Phil Boisseau and Malcom Barreiros.  He was predeceased by his father, Peter F. Swistak and his brother-in-law, James K. Bubien.

Michael was born in Ware and resided in West Brookfield.  He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in economics. He was a Project Manager for Brownstone Masonry and Reconstruction Company and Ascon Construction Company in Boston.

He was an avid fisherman and loved flower gardening.

Michael’s loving generous spirit and warmth and kindness will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

A Funeral Service for Michael will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield.  Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
