Ware – Richard J. “Dickie” Towlson, 73 of Ware died on Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home with his loving and caring family by him.
He leaves his wife of 48 years, Jeanne G (Beffre) Towlson; three sons, Richard J. Towlson and his wife Kate Norton Towlson, Robert J. Towlson and his wife Christine Fountain-Towlson, and Randie J. Towlson all of Ware; four grandchildren, Michael T. Towlson, Raven S. Towlson, Cody D.A. Towlson and Molly B. Towlson; his sister, Barbara Sloat of Ware, and brother-in-law Gene Beffre and nephew Geno Beffre both of Tennessee and many other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, William A. Towlson. He was born in Ware, son of the late William A. and Stasia A. (Szado) Towlson, and a life-long resident of Ware.
Richard served in the United States Army Reserves when he was younger and was a member of the American Legion in Ware. He worked in the Maintenance Division for the Town of Ware at the Senior Center and then primarily in the Police Station until retirement. He actively served the Town of Ware through a number of community services.
Dickie was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed cars and anything to do with outdoors. He grew a large vegetable garden annually, something that his sons never forgot when it came to weeding and picking out rocks.
A Funeral Service for Dickie will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00AM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., in Ware. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11AM prior to the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Ware Police Department K9 Unit, 22 North St., Ware, MA 01082 or a charity of choice.
