Ronald T. Allard

Ware – Ronald T. Allard, 79, of Ware, died peacefully on February 27, 2019 at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, with members of his family by his side.

Ron is survived by his children, Ronald T. Allard and his wife Sharon of Roswell, GA, Timothy E. Allard of Ware, Jeffrey D. Allard and Ann St. Pierre of Ware, Daniel R. Allard and his wife Marketta of Woodstock, GA and Carla A. Bullock and her husband Bob of Brookfield; four brothers, Larry, David, Michael and Randy, as well as eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his life-long love and wife of 53 years, Judith R. (Russell) Allard and his brother, Francis X. Allard.

He was born in Burlington, Vermont on February 19, 1940, son of the late Lawrence E. and Stella M. (Lorraine) Allard.  In 1955, Ron’s family left Vermont following the textiles industry and settled in Ware.  Shortly after arriving in Ware, Ron met the love of his life Judith who he married in 1960, and they began raising a family. Ron was a blue-collar man all the way, who made sure he did what he had to do to support his family. He worked as a millwright, as a mechanic, and for many years as a licensed plumber with his brother’s plumbing business and his own small plumbing business. Ron also loved tinkering and actually invented a tool, “The Cavity Maker,” which was used for hollow pointing rim fire ammunition. The tool did very well in the limited small game hunting market and was featured in several publications.  All this was tied to his passion for the shooting sports, both hunting and target shooting.  He belonged to several local sportsman clubs in the area.  His most beloved activity when it came to shooting was trap and skeet, and he was one of the best around.  He had won many club championships, and is one of very few that has ever shot 100 straight in both trap and skeet.  Ron was a very simple man, who never wanted beyond his means and he was not concerned about materialistic things. As long as his family had what they needed he was content, because his family was his life.  Ron was a compassionate man who would go above and beyond if he could to help those in need.  He loved going on daily rides exploring the backroads in the area, and playing Keno at Gabe’s in Ware.

Ron will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but it is assured that he is now at peace being reunited with his life-long love, his best friend, his wife and mother of his children, Judith.

Calling hours for Ron will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 from 4 to 6PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main Street, in West Brookfield.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at 1:00PM in All Saint’s Church, 17 North Street in Ware.  Burial will be in Quabbin Park Cemetery in the spring. 

Following the mass, a reception will be held in the American Legion Post 123 in Ware, where all are welcome to attend and celebrate Ron’s life.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ron’s honor.
