West Brookfield - Ruth M. (Collins) Gilman, 83, formerly of West Brookfield died peacefully in her sleep September 19, 2016. She is reunited with her husband of 54 years, George L. Gilman, Jr. who passed away in 2007 and her daughter Diane L. Inzerillo who passed away in 2010.
Ruth was born in Worcester, the daughter of Charles E. and Blanche (Rioux) Collins.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Vivian A. Stickles and her husband Robert of Rutland; her son-in-law Louis P. Inzerillo of Worcester; her granddaughters, Meghan J. Sawicki and her husband Joseph of Faribault, MN and Katie M. Goulet and her husband Matthew of Rutland; and her great grandchildren Emma, Aaron, Noah, Olivia and Isabelle. In addition to her husband and eldest daughter, she was predeceased by her sister June Bujnevicie and her brothers John J. Collins and Charles E. Collins Jr.
Ruth was devoted to and loved her family, friends and the Town of West Brookfield, her home for more than 60 years. She proudly supported her husband’s 50+ years of dedication to the town’s fire and ambulance squads. Ruth worked for many years in the West Brookfield and Quaboag Regional School Districts as a secretary/bookkeeper and was an accomplished seamstress. Ruth was a long standing member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Ruth was a woman who lived her life with hard work, honesty, loyalty, empathy for others and gratefulness for those in her life.
Ruth’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to the staffs at the Christopher House Brookside Unit, Dodge Park Rest Home and Jewish Health Care Hospice for their comforting care and support over the years.
A calling hour will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 E. Main Street, West Brookfield followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in West Brookfield. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in West Brookfield.
