Anicet Martins

August 22, 1919 — June 24, 2014

Ware---Anicet  Martins passed away on June 24, 2014 in Holyoke Hospital. He was just 2 months shy of his 95th  birthday. Marty was born in Ludlow on Aug. 22, 1919. He worked at the Quabbin Resevoir, before retiring, previously he had worked for many years at Westinghouse.  Marty was a World War II  Veteran of the Marine Corps, serving with the Sixth Division in the South Pacific. He was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #123, and was also a member of the DAV. He loved golfing, Bingo and visiting the Quabbin, but most of all enjoyed his two grandsons. In addition to his parents Anibel and Gloria Martins, he was predeceased by his wife Camille, sisters, Mary Bergeron, Ida Provost, Theresa Beaudoin, Celeste Roberge, Adele Rigney, and by his brother Frank. He is survived by his son Bruce and his wife Lee Ann, his 2 grandsons Matthew and Timothy, his brother John and his wife Lorraine, his sisters Rosalind Mucarial and her husband Vito, Dolores Douville and her husband Ronald, and a sister Antonia Cote and her husband Norman. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, and one very special niece, Gloria Strader, who took very good care of him and of whom he was especially fond. A Committal Service with Military Honors will be held on Tuesday July 1st  at 10am in Mass. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Memorial contributions in Marty's name may be made to the Injured Marines, Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd., Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside CA 92057.
