Anna Pollizze Thomas, 72, of Ware, passed away on August 9, 2014 after a brief, but hard fought battle with cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and generosity that is so rarely seen in this world. Anna devoted her life to caring for those who cannot care for themselves; both people and animals. Her selfless nature touched many lives, far too many to list. Born in New York, raised in Philadelphia, she moved to Western Massachusetts in the early 70's and setteled in Ware in 1971. Her positive impact was felt far and wide. Even in death, she is giving. Her beautiful eyes and skin are going to help people who need them. She also taught aerobics all over Western MA; most recently at the Hitchcock Academy in Brimfield, MA, until her illness caused her to stop.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Mark Stauffer of Ware; her son, Darrow Thomas, of Ware; her daughter Elaine Thomas, and her husband, Warren Miller, also of Ware; her beloved sister Elaine Root, of Texas; her Grandchildren Stefanie and Darrow Thomas: her great grandson, Jayden; her cousin Denise White; her nieces Whitney Root and Victoria Ward; her foster son and foster Granddaughter Rob and CJ; the people she cared for and loved every day, George, Anne and Claire; and far too many more cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends to list, but know she loved all of you with all her heart.
We would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital for the excellent care and compassion they showed Anna during her final days. Everyone there went above and beyond to ensure her comfort.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Concerned Citizens for Animals, P.O. Box 80073, Springfield, MA, 01138.
A celebration of Anna's life will be on August 23rd from 6pm-8pm at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street. Ware, MA, 01082
