Annalee H. Collins, 89
West Brookfield - Annalee H. (Harwood) Collins, 89 went home to be with her Lord on February 22, 2016.
She leaves her three children; Jennifer LaBarre, David Collins and Nancy Collins; grandchildren: Jeremy, Zachary and Mary Ellen and great-grandchildren: Danielle, Kyle and Asher and great-great-grand child, Gianna. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Harvey H. Collins and two siblings, Harold C. Harwood, Jr. and Barbara Haskell.
Mrs. Collins was a great mother who maintained the household and stayed home to care for her children as they grew. She worked at Fort Devens for several years as the secretary of the Motor Pool and then as secretary to the Principal at Minnechaug Regional High School and Athol High School before retiring in 1978. She was the care-giver for both her mother and mother-in-law toward the end of their lives. She lived into the role of a pastor's wife with grace and love. She was the pianist as needed at her husband's churches, and also subbed in for the pianist at several others.
She's been a church member her whole life, actively participating in numerous committees and programs. She was numerous choirs and she always loved to sing in the annual Messiah choral gathering in Springfield. Most recently she was a member of the George Whitefield United Methodist Church and their choir and the United Methodist Women. She was very active in the church suppers and church fairs preparing many items for both.
She was also a former member of the Worcester County Extension Service and the Hampden County Improvement Association. She enjoyed singing in community choirs as well, and sang in several musicals including leads in the Makato as Buttercup and in Fiddler on the Roof as Golda.
A Funeral Service for Annalee will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the George Whitefield United Methodist Church, 33 W. Main St., West Brookfield. There will be a calling hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM at the church. Following the service there will be a reception in the church hall.
