Barbara J. Niemiec

West Brookfield - Barbara Jean (Allen) Niemiec, 81, of West Brookfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.



She leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Roger J. Niemiec of West Brookfield; her sons, David W. Niemiec and his wife Michelle of West Brookfield, and Gene P. Niemiec and his wife Sheila of FL; her grandchildren, Hannah, Zakari, and Camdyn Niemiec;  her brother, Arthur Allen, Jr. and his wife Jan; and her sisters, Carol, and Dottie and her husband Joseph.  She was predeceased by her six other siblings; Marjorie, James, Catherine, June, Charlie, Sylvia and spouses.  She was born in Ware, daughter of the late Arthur and Ruby (Bullard) Allen.  She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.



Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.  She worked for many years as a secretary for the William E. Wright textile company in West Warren.  Following her work with Wright's she served as a crossing guard for the West Brookfield Elementary School.  She stayed on as the crossing guard for 12 years and enjoyed every minute of it.  She enjoyed walking around town and getting the paper every morning.  She loved golfing in her golf league at Quail Hollow Golf and Country Club.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She made the best pierogi and the best apple pie.



Calling hours for Barbara will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024  from 4 to 6pm at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., in West Brookfield.
