Obituary

Bernard (Bernie) Roy Robbins, 85 of Brookfield passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, with his family and friends by his side. His wife Janet M. (Oberg) Robbins predeceased him. He is survived by his son Barry Robbins and his wife Jane of North Brookfield; his grandchildren: Reecey Berthiaume of Ware, Amber Robbins and her partner Adam of Vermont, Crystal Berthiaume of Ware, Ashley Guzik and her husband Chris of Ware and Alicia Girard of Texas; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Jadrien, Nathaniel, Gwendalyn, Dustin, Mackenzie, Loralei, Adaline, Jeremiah, Liam, Revan and one on the way. He is survived by his siblings Nancy Kittredge and her husband Hector of Warren, Buster “Charlie” Robbins and his girlfriend Irene Perkins of Ware & Petersham; Karen Saletnik and her husband Michael of Ware, Wendy Adamczyk and her husband Stanley of Easthampton, Russell Robbins and his wife Diane of Dennis, Mark Robbins and his wife Cynthia of Washington, Jill Thibodeau and her husband Kevin of Worcester and his sister-in-law Debbie Robbins of Ludlow; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His sons Craig O. Robbins and Glen Robbins, his brother Neil Robbins and his mother Ebba Carlson predeceased him.

Bernard was born in Ware to Francis Robbins and Ebba Carlson and was raised in Hardwick. He went to work early as a young man on his family farm and other farms in the area. Bernard learned how to handle and work with livestock and farm equipment, and later learned to love gardening and growing fruits and vegetables. He then went to work with Union Local 98 and was with the Operating Engineers for over 50 years. During his career he was part of many large watershed construction projects all over the state. Bernard loved spending time with family and spent many hours playing pinnacle and pitch. He vacationed to Norway and Iceland to visit family, and enjoyed trips to Florida, Vegas and Wells, Maine.

All are invited to his calling hours on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 9-11am in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street, Ware, MA 01083 and Burial will follow in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Followed by a meal at the swift river club. Memorial donations in Bernard’s memory may be made to the Ware Senior Center, 1 Robbins Road, Ware, MA 01082.
