Cathy L. Bartholomew

June 29, 1952 — November 1, 2020

Ware - Cathy L. (Scott) Bartholomew, 68, of Ware, died on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at the Vero Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hampden following a long illness.

She leaves her husband, Philip S. Bartholomew; her step-daughter, Heather L. Bartholomew of Boston; her siblings, Paula Calheno and her husband Jim of Ludlow, and John Scott and his wife Nola of Procterville, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Kristin Calheno-Hill and her husband Matt, Justin Calheno and his wife Christine, Lynsey Teel and her husband Josh, and Melissa Scott-Manchester.  She also leaves her great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Kingsley, Avery, Cecelia, and Camden, and many former colleagues and friends and her cats, Fluffy and Lucky.  She was born in Pittsburg, daughter of the late Eugene and Louise (Orr) Scott and grew up in Butler, Pennsylvania.  She and Phil have lived in Ware for the past 25 years.

Cathy graduated from Clarion University with a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, and went onto earn her Board Certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist.  She spent her medical career working in the laboratories of medical centers and hospitals, including performing all aspects of point of care testing at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and Mary Lane Hospital in Ware.

Despite a full-time career, she always found time to devote to community service.  In Pennsylvania, she volunteered at the YWCA Women's Center, the AIDS Network, the American Red Cross, and the American Cancer Society.  While in Ware, she was a member of the Rail Trail Committee for the Town of Ware, and Ware's 250th Anniversary Committee, among others.  She had an innate passion to help people in need.

Cathy enjoyed being together with her family during summer visits to Lake Erie.  She loved nature, bird watching and going on walks on the Quabbin Reservoir trails.  She also enjoyed gardening around her home.

At her request, services for Cathy will be held privately and there are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at
