Ware - Charles F. "Charlie" Nicholson, 86, of Ware, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 18, 2020 at his son's home in Gilbertville, with his family by his side.

Charlie's wife of 66 years, Pauline L. (Duval) died just last month.  He leaves their son, Charles R. Nicholson and his wife Cheryl of Hardwick; five grandchildren, Tina Swindlehurst and her husband Matthew, Richard Nicholson and his wife Cynthia, Charlene Peterson and her husband Jim, David Puliafico and his partner Jennifer, Robert Puliafico and his wife Debra, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Judith Puliafico and also leaves his son-in-law, Charles Puliafico.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Leo, George, Henry, and Dorothy.  He was born in and grew up in Stocksboro, VT, son of the late Albert J. Nicholson and Irene C. (Alger) Nicholson, and has lived in Ware for over 30 years.

Mr. Nicholson was drafted into the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Korean War where he proudly served.

Charlie worked at the former Hersey Foundry and Romar Tissue Mills in Gilbertville for several years.  He later worked as a heavy equipment operator and yard manager at R.J. McDonald, Inc. in Barre for 20 years before retiring.  He was an early riser out of bed, and enjoyed a routine of morning coffee at Crystals Dairy, Dunkin Donuts, or the office gravel yard where he could tend the wood stove and read the paper.  Having grown up in Vermont, he never lost his love for the outdoors, and liked to both fish and hunt.  He was a practical joker, and always enjoyed a good laugh shared with family and friends.  He loved his family, and will be deeply missed by them.

He was a former member of All Saint's Church in Ware.

A Funeral Mass with military honors for Charlie will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10:30AM in All Saint's Church in Ware.
