David Wells

G. David Wells, 70

West Brookfield - G. David Wells, 70, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2015 after a period of declining health.

He leaves his children Heidi Wells Goyette and her friend Dana Merrill, Peter Wells and spouse Shelie, and Todd Wells; grandchildren Rachel and Ryan Goyette, Jaxon and Kaden Wells and Hunter and Jamie Wells; a brother John E. Wells; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Patricia Turner.   He also leaves behind his sister-in-law Claudia Wells.  David was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Jane A. (Stutz) Wells, a son, Geoffrey Bert Wells, a grandson, Camden Pierce Wells, a brother, Robert A. Wells and a nephew, Keith Wells.  He was born May 17, 1944, son of the late Alton R. and Helen Connors Wells.

Mr. Wells served 38 years in education as a classroom teacher or principal at Massachusetts elementary schools in Lee, Otis, Warren, Hopkinton, and Holyoke.  As one of his retirement endeavors, he recently authored and experienced the success of publishing his first book entitled TAME, Our Trusting Friend.

David was active in Christian education programs and was a member of the Quaboag Valley Baptist Church in Brookfield.  He was an avid golfer and found joy in skiing, fishing and spending time with his dog, Jiminy Cricket in the outdoors.  He enjoyed traveling and visiting with his family and friends.  He treasured following and being involved in the activities of his grandchildren, including coaching youth basketball.

A Funeral Service of Remembrance for David will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 at 10:00 AM in the Quaboag Valley Baptist Church, 175 Fiskdale Rd. in Brookfield. Calling hours will be held Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 3 to 6 PM in the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Burial will be in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield.  Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, Inc., P.O. Box  136 , East Brookfield, MA 01515.
