Denise Anderstrom Douglass

April 9, 1949 — May 28, 2022

West Brookfield - Denise Anderstrom Douglass, 73, of West Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Cedarbrook Village in Ware, surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her beloved children; Terence R. "Buck" of West Brookfield, Andrew M. (Heather Heineke) of West Brookfield, Scott M. (Jennifer Luisi) of Penfield, NY, Stephanie L. (Ryan) Brady of Washburn, WI;  her grandchildren, Keegan of Portland, ME, Keston of West Brookfield, Calla, Gloria, and Violet of Penfield, NY, Evan and Colin of Washburn, WI; her twin sister, Donna (Paul) Lapenas of West Brookfield, her sister Deb (Tom Bibo) Anderstrom of West Brookfield, her brothers, Douglas (Sherry) Guinan, Shaun (Debi) Guinan and sister, Ann Marie Damasca of Pittsfield, MA; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Teresa Guinan, her father, Robert Anderstrom and her brother, Drew Guinan.

Denise touched the lives of the innumerable people she cared for as a CNA, Pharmacy Medical Technician, and friend.  She knew everyone in her neighborhood and loved time with her friends and family. As a family, we were happy and touched that so many of her friends made time to visit with her during her illness.

Denise enjoyed experimenting with permaculture in her large gardens and was an expert wildcrafter of homemade tinctures. She was also an artist and a painter who decorated much of her home and gardens with paintings and other works of art.

She had deep concerns about the world, civil liberties, health choice, was a 2A enthusiast, and lifelong supporter of military veterans, having lost her father (a WWII and Air National Guard Pilot) at a young age. She was an avid researcher and learner on all fronts, especially autism. Denise was grandmother to a grandson with autism and cared deeply about his health and the health of her family and friends.

In accordance with Denise's wishes, there will not be a traditional wake or funeral.  The family will host an event to celebrate her life later this summer for all that knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Health Defense, 852 Franklin Ave, Suite 511, Franklin Lakes, NJ 07417 or at childrenshealthdefense.org or The Veterans of Foreign Wars, 406 W. 34th Street, Kansas City, MO, 64111 or at VFW.org.
