West Brookfield - Donald E. Whitehouse, 93, of West Brookfield died on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center.
He leaves his wife of 42 years, Louise P. (Crete) Whitehouse; 3 grandchildren, Erica,
Samantha, and Christopher and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Donny in 2018. He was born in Marlborough, son of the late Lester and Lauretta (Duprey) Whitehouse, and has lived in West Brookfield for 42 years.
After just turning 17 years of age, Donald enlisted into the United States Navy, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre during World War II.
Donald worked as a carpenter at Springfield Technical Community College for over 25 years. He was a long-time member of the Adams-Coney-Frew Post 244 American Legion in West Brookfield. He enjoyed working around his home, and keeping his yard beautifully maintained.
A Funeral Service with military honors for Donald will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 2PM in the chapel of the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, where his urn will be interred.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
