Dorothy "Dot" A. Kelton

Athol- Dorothy “Dot” A. Kelton, 89, of Athol, died on Monday, July 7th, 2025 at Athol Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves behind her daughter, Dawn Corkum and her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Kimberly Bacigalupo; and her daughter, Deborah Barber and her husband, Leo, all of Athol. She also leaves her eight grandchildren, Amie, Stan, Jesse, Patty, Jamie, Dorothy, Larry, and Brandon; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Kevin Merritt; as well as her identical twin sister, Doris, of Texas; and two grandchildren, Kyle and Travis. She was born in Holden, daughter to the late Sheridan and Fannie Wyman.

Dorothy grew up in Athol and graduated from Athol high school. She then moved to West Brookfield to raise her family from 1965-2008, before returning to Athol to enjoy her final years close to her children. Her time in West Brookfield was spent working at Top Hat Restaurant as a cook for 20 years, and at the Country Corner Store as a cashier for 21 years. Dorothy enjoyed spending time getting coffee at the Warren Spa, playing Bingo at the senior center in Athol, and held a membership at the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 172 in Orange.

The loss of Dorothy is deeply felt by those who love her, and she is remembered as a hard worker who was as tough as nails and loved her family dearly. Services for Dorothy will be held privately per the family’s request. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 3540 West Brookfield MA, 01585.
