Douglas F. Bell

July 30, 1932 — November 24, 2020

Spencer - Douglas F. Bell, 88, of Spencer died peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at UMass Memorial Medical Center, after a long illness.



He leaves his wife of 28 years, Joanne K. (Reavey) Bell of Spencer; his daughter, Laurie Bell of Southbridge; his son, Brian Bell and his wife Audrey of Spencer; two stepsons, Steve Anderson and his wife Sue of Spencer and Shaun Anderson and his partner Sue of Haydenville; as well as his sister, Dorothy Ellis of Whitinsville.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Nancy (Gilbert) Bell, his sister Elva Youngsma and his two brothers Donald Bell and Harry Bell. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  His cat, Mow, will miss him dearly.  He was born in Spencer, son of the late Lester F. and Wilhemina M. (McGregor) Bell.



He served in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 138.



Douglas worked as an Armored Truck Driver transporting money to various locations, before retiring in 1994.  During his retirement years, he enjoyed spending summers at his home in Wells, Maine and living in Largo, Florida before moving back to Spencer a few years back.
