Edward L. Lavella

Ware - Edward L. Lavella, 86, passed away peacefully at Wingate at Wilbraham on February 28, 2017.



He was born in Ware in 1930, the only child of Liberato Lavella and Ethel Dugan.  Edward is survived by his wife Beatrice of 41 years, his son Edward T. Lavella of Modena, NY, his daughter Lorrie Goodall of Brady, Texas, his stepson Ron Boucher and his partner Cherri DiSilva of Gilford, NH and his stepdaughter Doreen harder and her husband Craig Harder of Ware.  He has 9 loving grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.  Edward graduated from Ware High School in 1950 where he played football.



He joined the United States Air Force after high school and served as Airman 1st Class until his honorable discharge in 1954.  After serving his country he worked at Westover Air Force Base for 1 year before joining the team at Metropolitan Insurance.  Several years later he joined his dad in the egg business at Hill Top Farm.  In 1971 he joined Beatrice in the day to day operation of Snow's Restaurant until they both retired in 1990.



Ed loved his family and was a friend to all, always willing to help someone in need.  He loved saltwater fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, repairing boats, reading and golf.  He traveled extensively with his wife to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand and the West.  You could often find Ed having his afternoon coffee at McDonalds.  He will be missed by his family and friends.  "The song is ended, but the melody lingers on."



A Funeral Service for Edward will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 12:00 PM at the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St. in Ware.  Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Church of Ware, 49 Church St., Ware, MA 01082.
