Obituary for Edward T. Thompson

West Brookfield – Edward T. Thompson, 76, of West Brookfield died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.

He leaves his son, Christopher E. Thompson and his wife Angelique of Barre as well as three grandchildren, Aslan Papagni, Emma and Zachary Thompson. He also leaves his nephew, Sean Nolan of North Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition, he leaves his companion, Ella Polinski of Leicester and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Sandra J. (Parsons) Thompson in 2015, as well as his sister, Sharon Nolan in 2001. He was born in Damariscotta, Maine, son of the late Thurlow E. and Rosemary (Pinkham) Thompson.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Ed enlisted in the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.

He worked as a pressman for 40 years at the former Mariner Newspaper based in Marshfield, Massachusetts. He lived there with Sandy for 42 years prior to moving to West Brookfield.

After retirement, Ed enjoyed traveling and fishing as well as golfing with his son Chris to play on different courses throughout New England.

At his request, Funeral Services for Edward will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, at https://mdsc.org , or the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of New England at https://pwsane.org
