South Barre - Edward J. Valardi, 82, of South Barre, died on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Heywood Hospital.
He leaves his daughter, Roxanne and Abel Gomes of New Salem; his son, Edward J. Valardi, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Barre; his daughter, Christine Valardi; his grandchildren, Katrena, Jared, Alexis, Cassie, Justin, Bobby, and Erin; four great-grandchildren; his brother, William Valardi; and his uncle, Richard Crevier. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 48 years, Frances M. (Stolar) Valardi, as well as by his brother, Sammy Valardi. He was born in Ware, son of the late Salvatore and Olive (Crevier) Valardi.
Edward was a heavy equipment operator at Howard Dean Paving for over 25 years. He then worked as a custodian at Hardwick Elementary School for six years.
Edward was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed woodworking, building picnic tables and cupolas, and spending time with his family. His favorite hobby was hunting and fishing.
He was a member of St. Thomas A. Becket Church, in South Barre.
A calling hour will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street, in Ware. A funeral mass will be held at 11:15am in St. Thomas A. Becket Church, 398 Vernon Ave., in South Barre following the calling hour. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Barre following mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas A. Becket Church.
