Edythe Keaney

November 27, 1936 — February 8, 2022

West Brookfield - Edythe (Deffely) Keaney, 85, of West Brookfield died peacefully on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.



She leaves her son, Bernard C. Keaney, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, her granddaughter, Bethany Cogoli and her husband Matthew, her great-grandchildren, Connor, Rosalynn, Sadie and Clara of Oakham; her daughter, Christine Saxton and her husband Johnnie and her granddaughter Chane' of Maryland. She also leaves her sisters, Kathleen and Virginia and her brother, Paul. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard C. Keaney, Sr., a brother, William and her three sisters, Claire, Mary Elizabeth and Marion.  She was born in Newton, daughter of the late Joseph J. and Edythe J. (McManus) Deffely.



Edythe worked in accounts payable for Jordan Marsh Department Store before she retired.



She loved reading, playing Bingo, word puzzles and painting.



She was a member of St. Bernard Parish in Newton until moving to West Brookfield to be closer to her family.



Edythe will be laid to rest next to her husband in the spring at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Activity Department at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center, 47 East Main Street, West Brookfield, MA 01585.



Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting her family with arrangements.
