West Brookfield – Elaine M. Smith, 78, of West Brookfield, passed away on Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, with her family by her side.
Elaine leaves her loving husband, Donald B. Smith; her son, Michael B. Smith and his wife, Rebecca, of Conroe, TX; her son, David J. Smith and his wife, Tara, of Clay, NY; her son, Jason E. Smith and his wife, Lindsey, of Phillipston, MA; her eight beloved grandchildren, Alyssa, Hannah, Emmarae, Brayden, Rylan, Gracie, Owen, and Nolan; as well as her brother, Steve Jamilowski of Ware, MA; her brother, Jack Jamilowski and his life partner, Sandra Giza, of Warren, MA; her sister-in-law, Anita Jamilowski; her sister-in-law, Anne Phillips and her husband, Carl Phillips; her sister-in-law, Susan Overstreet and her husband, Ken Overstreet; as well as her brother-in-law, David Smith and his wife, Rosemary; and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward, James, Ronald, and Gerald Jamilowski, as well as by her sister-in-law, Paula Jamilowski. She was born in Ware, and was daughter to the late Joseph Piontowski, and Anne C. McHugh.
In her younger years, Elaine was active in the team sports she played, in and out of school. She was a lifelong fan of Elvis Presley, and she enjoyed her occasional trips to the casino as well.
For Elaine, family was priority number one. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and their needs and well-being always came before her own – or anything else. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, and all the memories she and they would come to create over the years. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for her family. She was a selfless woman who put her others needs before hers every time. She will be loved and missed by many.
A Committal Service for Elaine will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001 at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to the West Brookfield Rescue Squad, PO Box 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
