Elmer J. "Bud" Fontaine

June 30, 1935 — September 3, 2025

West Warren

West Warren- Elmer J. “Bud” Fontaine, 90, of West Warren passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Diane Fontaine; his daughter, Rebecca Jones and her husband, Christopher, of West Warren; his daughter, Melanie Stanton and her husband, Richard, Jr., of Warren; his son, Joseph Fontaine and his wife, Laura, of North Carolina; his daughter, Lisa Gerstel and her husband, Dana, of Warren; three of his eight siblings, Allen Fontaine and his wife, Lynette, of Spencer; Donald Fontaine and his wife, Marie, of Spencer; and Donna Harding of Gardner; as well as his 15 beloved grandchildren; his 13 great-grandchildren and two others on the way; and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the remaining five of his siblings, Eva Shaw, Benjamin Fontaine, Jr., Virginia Knight, Charles Fontaine, and Beverly Bassett. He was born in Holden, son of the late Benjamin and Ella (Tatro) Fontaine.

Bud was always a hard worker, and he never stopped. More than anything, he enjoyed taking care of his family. He loved and cherished the time he spent over the years with his grandkids, teaching them new skills, laughing and playing with them, and just creating new memories. He had a great sense of humor, and the house was always full of new jokes, and laughter. He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing in the ocean, and metal-detecting anywhere he could find. In his final days at home, he loved that he was able to look outside from the window and watch his beloved grandkids work together to build a mobility ramp attachment to the house, made just for him. He was truly loved by all, and he was proud of his incredible, strong, and deeply loving and supportive family.
