Emil  Eric Kmiec,

91, of Ware, died May 24, 2013 in the comfort and care of his devoted wife, Catherine with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. He was born on May 19, 1922 in Gilbertville, Mass. to the late Joseph and Helena Kosla Kmiec. He was preceded in death by his brother Chester of North Carolina and his sister Jean of Gilbertville.



Emil is survived by his wife Catherine, his son Eric and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Middletown, Delaware, his brother Victor and wife Gladys of Gilbertville, his godson Chester and wife Judy in New Jersey, many nieces and nephews, and two grandsons who were the joys of his life, Tyler in Delaware and Samuel in South Carolina.



Emil served his country as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Maritime Service during WWII. He was employed by Monsanto for 26 years before retiring to pursue his love of gardening and travel. He was a past Grand Knight and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and devoted countless hours as chairman of many K of C events and activities. He was a long time manager and coach for Ware Little League Baseball and served as a deacon and usher at All Saints Catholic Church for 26 years.



Catherine would like to extend deep gratitude to her brother Richard and nephew Cullen, neighbors Roy and Cindy, Guy and Pam, and Jason, and friends Cheryl and Bonnie for being there when she and Emil needed them.



The family thanks Father Fitzgerald and Sister Angela for their special prayers, and the staff at Quaboag Rehab for their wonderful and compassionate care.



Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant Street, Ware from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. on Wed., May 29th and Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Catholic Church, Ware at 11:00 am. Burial will be in New Saint Williams Cemetery, Ware immediately following Mass.



In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospitals for Children or the charity of your choice.
