West Brookfield - Eva R. (Stone) Benson, 84, of Central Street, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Benson; one son, Robert E. Benson, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Niantic, CT; four sisters, Bertha Nolan of Brookfield, Jane Frew and her husband Herbert of West Brookfield, Marion Moriarty of Ludlow and Margaret Larson of Maryland; two grandchildren, Jennifer Benson and Christopher Benson, both of Suffield, CT, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Miller of Worcester. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late John P. and Bertha L. (Gendron) Stone and grew up in Brookfield before moving to West Brookfield in 1955. She graduated from Brookfield High School.
Mrs. Benson worked as a secretary for the former Town Broom in Spencer and William E. Wrights Company in West Warren before retiring.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in West Brookfield and loved crafting and reading.
A Funeral Mass for Eva will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Sacred Heart Church in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in West Brookfield and everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Calling hours will be held Monday, December 29, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at the Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield.
