West Brookfield – Fay E. Payne, 87, of West Brookfield, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
She leaves behind her son, John Lincoln and his wife, Cathy, of Norfolk, Virginia; her beloved grandchildren, Michael and Krystal; her great-grandson, Owen; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, William C. Payne; by her daughter, Beth A. Lincoln; and by her brothers, William Felton of Townsend, MA, and Newell Felton of Barre. She was born in Holden, MA, daughter of the late Albert and Belle (Elizabeth) Felton.
Fay was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a kind and caring sister, and a friend to many. In her working years, she offered her kindness and assistance to those in need as a home health aide. Fay and William began raising their family in Barre, and they eventually moved to Hardwick for many years to follow. An avid and skilled baker and canner, she was always happiest in the kitchen where she could prepare and preserve foods to her heart’s content. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and crafting in her spare time. She spent her final few years at Quaboag in West Brookfield.
Services for Fay will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fay’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.
