Florence S. Roy, 93
Ware - Florence S. (Gruszczynski) Roy, 93, peacefully departed her earthly life with her loving family by her side at Wingate at Hampden on March 8, 2017.
She was the daughter of the late Helen (Papuzynski) and Walter Gruszczynski. Florence was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Charles E. Roy, her great-granddaughter Morgan Kyleigh Rooney, and her siblings Wanda Mega, Cecelia Matera, Stasia Wroblicki, and Stanley, Victor, and Edwin Gruszczynski. Florence is survived by her son James E. Roy, Sr. (Carol), her daughter Linda S. Banas (Larry), grandchildren Dr. Alicia M. Roy of New Fairfield, CT, Wendy J. Rooney (Gregory) of Mooresville, NC, James E. Roy, Jr. (Patricia) of Charlotte, NC, Kellie J. Trzpit (James) of Ware, MA, and Brian E. Banas (Laura) of Shrewsbury, MA. She also sadly leaves her great-grandchildren Evan and Jordan Trzpit, Slade and Gigi Roy, Sean, Shay and Mia Rooney, Naeemah Banas. She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Bernice Cuzzone, Alice Ahmed, and Jean Guimond.
Florence and her husband Charlie operated Laurel Cleaners in Ware for 25 years. She loved her family, bowling, bingo, trips to the casinos and her beloved cat Chloe.
The family wishes to extend our deepest thanks to the staff at Wingate at Hampden for the wonderful care they extended to Florence during her stay.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Florence will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00AM in All Saint's Church in Ware. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 9:00AM to 10:30AM in the Charbonneau Funeral Home, 30 Pleasant St., Ware. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101-6307.
