Francis R. Lavallee

Ware---Francis R. Lavallee, passed away on November 2nd in Baystate Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was born in Ware on June 13, 1929 and was a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He leaves his wife of 56 years Dorothy (Tworek), his son Joe and his wife Patty, and grandchildren Eric, Jillian, and Seth. He was predeceased by his son John Paul, his father Claude, a long time Ware Selectman and owner of Lavallee & Sons Grocery, his mother Vedea and Brother Claude (Jr.).
A lifetime love of baseball carried throughout his years, pitching for Ware High, Club Leagues and coaching Little League with his brother Claude. Francis served in the Air Force with the 7th Air Division in Heyford England. During his time there he was starting pitcher for the Air Force's "Sky Kings" baseball team. His exceptional performance during the 1953 playoffs enabled his team to win the United Kingdom Air Force Championship, and was named UK Most Valuable Player. He was employed as the Chart Dept. foreman at Ludlow/ Kanzaki Paper Co. for over 40 years retiring in 1991, to spend time with his grandchildren. As a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, the love and selflessness he showed his family on a daily basis will be greatly missed. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
