West Brookfield - Gary R. Madrazo passed away, surrounded by love of family and friends on Thursday, October 20, 2022 following a brief illness.
He leaves his children, Darcy J. Madrazo, Evan M. Madrazo and Caitlyn A. Churchey, as well as his grandson, Nathaniel Nerkowski. He also leaves his long-time friend, Douglas Blood and his wife Elaine of West Brookfield and many other friends. Gary will also be deeply missed by his former wife, Anna-Marie (Downey) Marshall and the entire Downey family. He will also be mourned by his brother, Kevin Madrazo and sister, Debbie Waugh. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert, Darlene, and Dorene Madrazo. Gary was born in Ware, son of the late Raymond and Joan (Lacroix) Madrazo and lived in Hardwick prior to moving to West Brookfield. It was well known that throughout Gary's life, his mother continued to be his rock.
Gary graduated from the former Worcester Boys Trade School. He was a small business owner specializing in both residential and commercial building construction. He was an extremely talented carpenter and one of his many accomplishments was building over 400 homes in Massachusetts. Gary was very passionate about his career, but his biggest passion in life was his family and he had a very special place in his heart for his grandson, Nathan.
A Funeral Mass for Gary will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 in St. Joseph's Church, 296 North Main St., in North Brookfield, followed by burial in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 4-6pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Varnum Funeral Home, Inc. in West Brookfield. .
