He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Mark Oliver; by his grandchildren, Matthew Oliver and Ashley (Oliver) Williams; and by his sisters, Sheila (Miner) LeVitre and Karen (Miner) Parker. He was born and grew up in North Brookfield, son of the late Isadore J. and Estelle T. (Caron) Miner.
Gary worked as a gas station pump technician for over 40 years, doing installations, pipefitting and service throughout New England. He was with Zecco, Inc. in Northborough and then later with LaMountain Brothers Service, Inc. in Oxford. Following retirement, he worked part-time for Dana Howe of DM3 Petroleum Services, Inc. in North Brookfield. He was friendly and fun to be with, easy to talk to, and the ever-present jokester. His free time was taken up with projects around the house and helping his family members. Most important to him was spending time with his grandchildren, at their sports games, playing golf, and going to horse shows. He was an avid golfer, even scoring a hole-in-one at the Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club in Oakham and will be missed by the regular Tuesday Morning Golf League, Pit's Crew. Gary was a devoted member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish in West Brookfield. Together, he and Carol enjoyed being snowbirds in Ocala, Florida for several years, as well as traveling abroad, and "glamping" in their motorhome throughout the United States.
A Graveside Service for Gary will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 11AM in the Pine Grove Cemetery in West Brookfield.
Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., in West Brookfield is assisting his family with arrangements.
