George L. McGrail Jr., 85
North Brookfield - George L. McGrail Jr., 85, ascended to heaven peacefully on March 25, 2016 surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 61 years, Mary A. (Lane) McGrail; three children, Kenneth McGrail and his wife Beth, Karen McGrail and her husband Daniel Dever, and Mark McGrail and his wife Sheila; three granddaughters, Kaitlyn Foucher, Alycia McGrail and Christy Dever; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. A grandson, John McGrail Dever predeceased him.
George was raised in Spencer, MA and moved to North Brookfield when he married Mary in 1955. He graduated from David Prouty and Worcester Boys Trade where he studied auto mechanics and welding. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and proudly served his country.
George was a busy, diligent, independent worker who held various occupations, the most prominent of which was owning and operating Mohawk Motor Sales since 1959 and his own bus company since 1981.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church in North Brookfield and the North Brookfield Finance Committee. Prior to a stroke in 2008, he was extremely involved in the Marine Corps League as well as most town and school committee meetings.
A Funeral Service for George will be held Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the First Congregational Church in North Brookfield. There are no calling hours and burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
