West Brookfield - Geraldine R. (Rice) Foty, 93, of West Brookfield died on Friday, December 6, 2019, at Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.
She leaves her daughter, Caroline Foty of Baltimore, MD; her son, Daniel Foty of Cambridge, VT, a sister-in-law, Janice Rice of Aiken, SC, as well as one grandchild, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Nicholas C. Foty in 2006, as well as her two younger brothers, Edward and Richard. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Leonard S. and Marie M. (Hallihan) Rice.
Mrs. Foty graduated from Clark University and taught English, French, and Spanish prior to her marriage. She wrote reviews and articles for the Worcester Telegram, the County Courier, the New Leader, and other publications.
At her request, funeral services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made to West Brookfield Rescue Squad, P.O. Box, 540, West Brookfield, MA 01585.
