Gerard A. Levesque, 86
Charlton - Gerard A. Levesque, 86, formerly of West Warren, died September 6, 2014 at The Meadows in Leicester of lung cancer and chronic lung disease. Gerard was born in 1928 and was raised and lived almost all of his life in West Warren moving to Charlton nine years ago. He was the son of Joseph Levesque and Cecile (St. Amand) Levesque.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Bridget (Clifford); his son, Joseph Levesque and his wife Lisa of Rutland; his daughters Patricia Levesque of Ware and Geraldine Levesque and "adopted" daughter Darlene Blanchard of Charlton with whom he lived; his grandchildren who he loved very much and was very proud, Michael, Matthew, Meaghan and Timothy Levesque; nieces and nephews and his beloved little dog Bonnie. He was pre-deceased by a brother and five sisters.
Gerard worked for many years as a meat cutter. He also served the home town that he loved for many years as a volunteer fireman, police officer, Deputy Chief of Police, Chief of Police, as a member of the Board of Selectman, Board of Assessors, Democratic Town Committee, Sewer Commission, as well as in many other capacities. He served as a Deputy Sheriff of Worcester County and finished out his working years as a security police officer at Monson Developmental Center. He was a member of the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association.
He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
He had a great singing voice and an even greater sense of humor. He was strong and he was stubborn. He loved nature, scratch tickets, ice cream, playing golf, all kinds of sports, watching the Olympics and the Boston Red Sox and was thrilled to have seen them win the World Series and to have his very own brick in the walkway at Fenway. But most of all he loved his family.
In keeping with his request, there are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass for Gerard will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Aquinas Church on North St. in West Warren and everyone is asked to go directly to the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Warren.
