Rev. Harvey H. Collins, 91
West Brookfield - Rev. Harvey H. Collins, 91 went home to be with his Lord at his daughter's home under the care of Overlook Hospice of Charlton on October 1, 2014 after struggling with congestive heart failure.
He leaves his loving wife of 68 years, Annalee (Harwood) Collins; his three children; Jennifer LaBarre, David and Nancy Collins; grandchildren, Jeremy, Zachary and Mary Ellen; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Kyle and his sister Beatrice Finkbiner of Allentown, PA.
He was a graduate of Hudson High School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute and received Local Pastor's training from Boston University School of Theology at age 45. He is a veteran of the Navy Air Force serving in WWII. He was a design Engineer for two different companies for 25 years and created the designs for several injection molding machines used around the world today. He also designed two of his homes and built them. He was instrumental in creating the Public Access channel in West Brookfield and designing the Senior Center of West Brookfield.
He was involved in many areas in the communities he has lived in during his life. He was a volunteer fireman and a member of the American Legion in Bolton. He sang in the church choir where he met his wife. He was a square dancer and played banjo. He participated in many roles within his church and in the community, serving as a Boy Scout Leader and a youth group leader as well as the Wilbraham Community Players.
In 1969 he was led to serve God in pastoral ministry 17.5 years. He became an Associate Member in 1976 of the Southern New England United Methodist Conference serving United Methodist churches in South Athol, Orange, Medford, Wesley UMC in MA and Putnam Ct. Additional churches he served were in West Warren, Warren and West Brookfield Congregational Church.
A Funeral Service will be held on October 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the George Whitefield United Methodist Church, 33 W. Main St., West Brookfield. A calling hour will be held prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the church. May God richly bless you through Jesus Christ.
