September 16, 1946 — February 4, 2023

Henry C. "Sonny" Ostrout, Jr., passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023 after an illness.

Sonny leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Pamela Ostrout of East Brookfield, his daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Matthew Collins of Westfield, and his daughter and son-in-law Christine and Daniel Lavin of East Brookfield. He also leaves his brothers, Reynold and his wife Annie Ostrout of East Brookfield, and Edward Ostrout of Oakham. He was predeceased by his son, Paul "P.J." Ostrout, his sister Joyce and her husband Wayne King and his sisters-in-law, Marie Ostrout and Joyce Megary. Sonny also leaves seven grandchildren, Ryan, Kaitlyn and her husband Zachary, Amanda and her husband Marc, Drew, Brady, Emmerson and Parker "P.J.," and five-great-grandchildren, Luke, Vivianne, Charlie, Chloe and Penelope. He also leaves his loving nieces and nephews.

Sonny was born in East Brookfield to Henry, Sr. and Elsie (Guglietti) Ostrout where he grew up and raised his family, until moving to Spencer in 2018.  He worked for several years at UPS before finding his passion in the Travel Industry. Sonny was a Travel Agent for many years at the local Spencer Travel Agency in Spencer and also at Young's Travel in Worcester, before opening his own E.B. Tour and Travel where his signature trip was the East Brookfield sixth grade class trip to Washington, D.C. every year. Sonny also worked for Tours of Distinction and East Coast Edventures escorting many bus tours.  Through his years of travel, Sonny had an amazing ability to make life-long friends wherever he went with his kind, caring, and outgoing personality.

When he was not working, Sonny loved to travel for pleasure. He enjoyed taking family vacations to the beach and that love for the beach continued as he spent time in Maine on Long Sands Beach collecting shells and sea glass, Nubble Lighthouse, and visiting friends all around York. While at home, he also enjoyed morning coffee with his friends in, "The Coffee Club."

At his request, services for Sonny will be held privately. A Celebration of his Life will be held later this summer.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions and donations may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Road, in Worcester, MA 01562.

Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., in West Brookfield is assisting his family with his arrangements.
