Irene E. Lapointe

Gilbertville / West Springfield - Irene E. (Ostiguy) LaPointe, 96, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2020.  She was born in New Braintree, MA on March 8, 1924 daughter of the late Azaire and Clara (Real) Ostiguy.  She was the last remaining of sixteen children.  Irene is survived by her two sons, Arthur LaPointe and his wife Karen of West Springfield and Robert LaPointe of Palm Springs, CA; four cherished grandchildren, Celine, Eve, Aimee, and Matthew and his wife Ashley, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as, nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was predeceased by her husband, Roland LaPointe, and their daughter, Joanne (LaPointe) Pillar.



Irene was a loving grandmother and a very generous and caring person.  She was everyone's "memere".  She enjoyed listening to country music, dancing, and playing bingo.



A Funeral Mass for Irene will be held on Friday, November 20 at 10:00AM in the St. Aloysius Church, 64 Church Street in Gilbertville.  Burial will follow the Mass in St. Aloysius Cemetery.  There are no Calling Hours and everyone is asked to meet at the Church.  In accordance with the current COVID-19 MA guidelines, masks must be worn while in the church and in the cemetery and social distancing guidelines must be followed.  In lieu of flowers and donations, please pray for her and offer Masses in her memory.
