Israel E. LaPlante, 98
Ware - Israel E. LaPlante, 98, formerly of West Brookfield, died Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Quaboag Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in West Brookfield with two of his granddaughters by his side.
He leaves a daughter-in-law, Helen Sierak and her husband Simon of Warren; sixteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Elizabeth (Plouff) LaPlante; his four children, Ernest Plante, David Plante, Sylvia Sauvageau and Kathleen Bigos and his ten siblings. He was born in Palmer, son of the late Arthur J. and Lilian (Brow) LaPlante and grew up in Palmer and West Brookfield and lived in Warren, Hope Mills, West Brookfield and Colrain before moving to Ware with his granddaughter.
Mr. LaPlante owned and operated the Warren Spa & Package Store in Warren for many years and worked for over 30 years as a machinist for CF&I Wire Company in Palmer before retiring.
A Graveside Service for Israel will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in West Brookfield. There are no calling hours. Varnum Funeral Home, Inc., 43 East Main St., West Brookfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
