West Brookfield - James Edward Bishop, 65, of West Brookfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT.
He leaves his wife, Deborah R. Bishop of West Brookfield; his step-father, Norman Mathes; his daughters, Bianca and Becky; his step-daughters, Michelle, Melissa, and Kelly; his sisters, Melissa "Sue," and Sarah; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was born in Quincy, son of Marie (Mullings) Bishop of Quincy, CA, and the late Eugene E. Bishop.
James proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and earned himself many decorations, medals and awards throughout his 20 years of service. His military education was unparalleled and he specialized in Airborne and Parachute Rigging. He served overseas in Southwest Asia during the Persian Gulf War. After his career in the army, he obtained his Registered Nursing Degree from Rhode Island College in 2002. He then worked as a registered nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester for 18 years.
James was a loving and devoted husband, father and friend to many.
A committal service for James will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00am in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon.
