West Brookfield – James A. Paquette, 71, of West Brookfield passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Terri L. Paquette of West Brookfield; his daughter, Lisa Audette and her husband, Matthew, and their two children, Henry and Edith, of Belchertown; his son, Adam Paquette and his significant other, Candace Bombard, and their two children, AdaLynn and Noah, of Brookfield; his siblings Norman, Laureen, Judy, and Dennis, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by siblings Edmund, Raymond, and Richard. He was the son of the late Edmund and Eileen Paquette.
Jimmy, as he was known by his family and friends, grew up in West Brookfield as one of eight children. He met his high school sweetheart, Terri, at the age of 15. They married at 19 and went on to build a life together, raising two children who were the pride of his life. From an early age, he developed passions that stayed with him throughout his life—cars, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling. He even learned to fly, a testament to his love of challenge.
Jimmy learned masonry from his father, a humble start that built not only his skills but also his work ethic, patience, and pride in craftsmanship. He built and worked on many landmarks throughout the community. Known by all as someone who could fix anything, Jimmy had a remarkable ability to figure things out, no matter how difficult the task. If something was broken, he would find a way to make it work again. If someone needed help, he showed up—quietly, without hesitation, and always with that old-fashioned kindness that defined him. Though not always a man of many words, he expressed his love by doing: offering help, solving problems, and working tirelessly for the people he cared about. Stopping was never in his nature; he was always moving, always giving. Jimmy will be remembered for his generosity, quiet strength, and the love he showed through action.
Calling hours for Jimmy will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 PM with a Funeral Service to follow at Varnum Funeral Home, 43 East Main Street, West Brookfield, MA. Burial will be held at a later date.
