JEANETTE (HARNOIS) LAPLANTE  (1920- 2013)

Bondsville--

Jeanette (Harnois) LaPlante of Bondsville, MA left us on April 4th after several weeks of  illness.

Jeanette was born in Saskatchewan, Canada, the third child of Edward and Edwardina (Bonin) Harnois.  Jeanette spent happy childhood years in the Forest Lake district of Palmer.  She attended Palmer schools until her family moved to Hardwick (village of Old Furnace), where she graduated from  Hardwick High School.

During World War II She worked at various jobs supporting the war effort, including one at Raytheon in Waltham.  Later she returned to her family home in Old Furnace and worked in Wheelwright at the paper mill. She and Conrad LaPlante of Gilbertville married in 1948; they lived in Old Furnace while both worked at the Wheelwright paper mill.  They moved to Bondsville in 1972, where they were members of  St. Bartholomew Catholic Church parish.

Jeanette and Conrad had many friends in Hardwick, Palmer, and the New England area paper-making industry.  They enjoyed boating in various New England lakes; they were always ready to give a welcome to family and friends, to join in happy celebrations, and to give support in time of need.  Jeanette also enjoyed sewing for herself and family members, playing Bingo, trips to Foxwoods, and theater trips with friends from Palmer.  She appreciated the help of treasured  caregivers and friends who extended her ability to stay in her Bondsville home, especially that of Anne Kelly Barnes.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Conrad and by three brothers-Arthur, Clement, and Alfred Harnois.  She is survived by three sisters -Cecilia and Marion Harnois and Claire Wingler; a brother, David Harnois; Arthur's wife Margaret; and eleven nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral arrangements are by Charbonneau Funeral Home, Pleasant St., Ware, MA.  Calling hours will be Sunday, April 7th from 2 to 4 p.m., and Monday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m, with a Mass at 10am in St. Aloysius Church in Gilbertville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.  Please send a contribution to her favorite charity-- the St. Jude Hospital for Children -- or to the charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers.
